Here goes...
For this one I have to push myself further than my usual paintings. I am trying to make sure I have plenty of depth and interesting-ness in the background. I am also drawing two women instead of one; this makes for some interesting lighting issues. The references are from two seperate places so of course the light source is not from the same position. I would like to be able to create my own lighting without worrying about the lighting on the reference material I use but this is not as easy as it sounds. We shall see how hard by the end of this painting and see if I am cursing at it or not.
For all of you who have seen my work in progress steps before the format should be familiar so here goes. I will only make comments when I have done something different or made a mess or something which is very likely.
Step 1
Step 2
Step 2
For once I managed to get the composition and background the way I wanted almost in the first go. That is no doubt going to come back and bite me in the ass ( am I allowed to swear on here? ). Lots of work to go of course but it seems to be shaping up alright so far.
Step 3
Step 4
I had to get rid of the other woman because it didn't fit. I may try and put another person or creature in there next but it wasn't working like that. The general layout is working now at least.
Step 5
Lots more detail here and I have tried to make the background more realistic. Bits on the hair, more on the skin and little bits everywhere really. It's coming along so I am not sure how much more I will add.
Step 6
Added some details like the war paint; tail etc. Added the bird in the background to give ita bit of a fantasy feel. Still missing something but not sure what.
Step 7
