An early version of yet another winged creature. I am going for an angel type look here so hopefully I can get the wings right. It won't be a fairy this time though so I will need to paint some proper wings. Not sure what I am doing for a background yet; the obvious thing is the sky but I may see about something a little more detailed. I like paintings with lots of depth and you can't do that with just a sky really.
Step 1
Basic rough idea of what I wanted.
Step 2
Adding some basic colouring to the woman. It always looks dodgy at this stage but you just have to keep going.
Step 3
Working on the skin more here is all that I have done. The wings are going to change from this but I just wanted something in there to take up the space.
Plenty of work to go on the skin and I need to be careful that I don't make it too black and colourless. I always struggle when there is a lot of dark shades in the skin because it is not simple dark brown but many colours which are quite hard to see.
Next I will see about the background and make get some sort of wing detail going on in there.
Not to forget I have another WIP going on here but I am a little bit stuck with that one so it will have to wait until I have some better ideas.
Step 4
I was not liking the wings for this one so I got rid of them and after a few different backgrounds I have come up with this. I thought I would try another tree and some more stuff in the background. Not having a good time of it lately; everything I try seems to look rubbish.
Step 5
As you can see I have changed it completely yet again. I mentioned above I am not having much luck so I am trying something dark for a change. They never work out great for me but I am not changing it totally again.
Step 6
I have darkened in the sky and messed around with clouds and stars etc. It is almost finished so I have signed it but I will let it sit for a while and see if it needs anything else before claiming it to be finished.
Finished
Some minor tweaks to the woman and added some more stars but I think I will leave it there. Not too bad for a dark painting compared to my usual efforts.
